talent + technology = awesome

it's amazing to see what can be done with technology nowadays. I saw this a while ago and thought it was such a cool video. enjoy :)

online shopping trap

so refinery29 had one of their awesome reserves that ended up giving me half off at edgeofurge.com!!
not only do they have great clothes and shoes, but their customer service is phenomenal and they even have handmade items!!
all the cute stuff that came with my order :)
these are some not so good shots of the leggings i purchased from them. the black ones have some rivet detailing at the bottom, and the tribal black and white ones are handmade by jessie!

anyways check out the site on cyber monday b/c i heard they're having a sale!! wooooop!

btw, sorry the pictures are so crappy lol

November Birchbox!!

getting these little boxes has become one of my favorite monthly things, since most other 'monthly' occurrences are not as pleasant lol. anyway, this is what I got this month!
the box :)

Thymes body lotion, a sample of Kate Spade's twirl perfume (it smells amazing!), zoya polish, and jouer lip enhancer

I LOVE THIS!!
I absolutely love the Jouer lip enhancer because it does what traditional lip plumper's are supposed to do without that annoying "lips-on-fire" feeling. It makes your lips completely smooth and essentially plumps out any ridges. I love!

if you haven't yet, sign up for birchbox HERE!

no days off...literally

I cannot begin to express how much I dislike that phrase...however I can't help that I've been feeling that way since I started taking classes again. It's like an endless amount of either stressing about work, or stressing about studying. To begin with, I started to feel like I'm stuck in a rut at work. Then once I leave work, accounting principles begin to flood my already over-stressed brain. School and studying have never been my favorite things to do, but since accounting and I have a very tumultuous relationship (this will be our second attempt at making it work), I've had to really devote a lot of my time to understanding where debits and credits go, amongst other overly complex financial journalism rules. The remainder of my time is spent contemplating why we have to try again at all lol.

But life is just like that sometimes though;we're forced to deal with things and people we dislike (or hate in my case) in order to challenge us. We tend to question what the purpose of certain things and experiences are in regards to us, but we rarely think about the bigger picture. Whether your current hurdle is to face a vengeful ex (aka accounting), rebuild a broken relationship (still accounting lol) or just simply move forward in life (finish school/get out of a rut), always remember that you will make it. It might kick your ass, but the whole  experience will reinforce how great you are.

Lesson of the day: never underestimate yourself because you are far more capable than you think.

i love surprises in the mail!

well, it wasn't really a surprise (since i did sign up and pay for it) BUT it was still fun nonetheless! I (sorta) recently received my first birchbox and I totally love it! I stumbled upon it on facebook in the ads sidebar and  was intrigued enough to check it out. essentially, for $10 a month birchbox will send you a box (like the one above) filled with sample-sized goodies ranging from granola bars to perfume. i like it because it's a way to try out a different or new product without having to chance at losing money on it if you absolutely hate it!! my first box had a kissables lipgloss sample (which i love), a shampoo/conditioner sample for color-treated hair, a foot treatment, deborah lippmann nail polish remover mitts (super cool), and a colorescience SPF powder (that i also LOVE)!

better late than never...

i'm about 5 months late posting about my brasil trip, but better late than never, right?

it was an amazing trip!!! hubby had never left the country so it was his first international trip, and my parents met us out there so it was a real family reunion! i love my family to death and it's nice to be able to see how much my cousins have grown up, even though it kinda makes me feel old :( lol.

while we were there, my family threw us an anniversary party/cookout with TONS of delicious food, and even more amazing sweets. I pretty much ate brasilian barbecue steak from 2pm to 2am like a true fatass lol. it was great to see everyone together and having fun, and i cannot express how much i wish i could have stayed there...you never realize how much you miss family until you get to spend so much time around all of them. hopefully we'll be able to make it back again soon!

the best things in life are free

if you know me, you know that i put my email address on ANY restaurant member list/ store list/ "anything i can be put on that potentially wins me rewards" list lol. I got to be a part of the VOGUE influencer network and besides finding out about cool stuff, we get the chance to win some of this cool stuff!

so when Sephora started their 'Hot Now' samples on the influencer network i was totally excited. who doesn't like getting free makeup? duh. so i ended up getting a couple gems from the selection of samples and I was siced when they came in! the best one was the Tokidoki sodashop tin. it even comes with a sheet of magnets with some of the Tokidoki characters! absolutely adorable :) I also got an Hourglass Aura sheer cheek stain. the color is GORGEOUS and gives the perfect amount of 'glow'. definitely must-haves.

3 months later.....

and I finally get back to writing/venting.

I'm still entertained by tumblr and the visual stimulation I get from there (that sounded nastier than I intended, lol).
BUT life isn't all about stimulation, right? NO. right.

anyway there's been some major changes since the last time I was here. We are officially moving to Orlando in less than a week! yay! we found a nice apartment and I found a transfer, but kenny's still working on a transfer so he will be partaking of an excruciating 2 hour commute. yuck. we've also downsized our family a bit, and that was probably the hardest and saddest experience of my life. we had to give booboo and flint away because of many different reasons, but it broke my heart to see them go. luckily a super nice woman adopted both of them together, and now they are a part of a big family with endless amounts of love :)

not gonna lie...

my tumblr blog has kinda taken over my attention more than this blog :(

BUT this is where I can actually vent (to the world/myself) more thoroughly. tumblr's cool and all since it has pictures EVERYWHERE, but it almost seems like its made so that people can try and live vicariously through their posts/reblogs/cliche-ness.

but i digress. since my last real post, not much has really happened in a physical sense; it's been more of a mental/spiritual change for me. it kinda sounds as though i had a spiritual awakening, but it wasn't that deep. i mean, it was deep, but not that deep.

anyways, I realized that I had been allowing myself to be way to negative about everything. about the dogs, the apartment, the move, being married, going to work, gaining weight,  etc etc etc. the list goes on and on, but in short, I was being negative about LIVING. and that, quite frankly, is unacceptable.
